AN ACT to amend the executive law and the social services law, in
relation to developing plans to adequately address military sexual
trauma
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 353 of the executive law is amended by adding a new
subdivision 21 to read as follows:
21. TO DEVELOP AND ENCOURAGE PLANS FOR ASSISTANCE AND BENEFITS WHICH
ADEQUATELY ADDRESS MILITARY SEXUAL TRAUMA EXPERIENCED BY VETERANS DUE TO
THEIR MILITARY SERVICE.
S 2. The social services law is amended by adding a new section 179 to
read as follows:
S 179. ASSISTANCE TO VETERANS. PURSUANT TO SUBDIVISION TWENTY-ONE OF
SECTION THREE HUNDRED FIFTY-THREE OF THE EXECUTIVE LAW, ANY VETERAN
ORGANIZATION DEFINED IN SUBDIVISION THREE OF SECTION ONE HUNDRED SIXTY-
EIGHT OF THIS TITLE SHALL PROVIDE ASSISTANCE AND BENEFITS TO VETERANS
WHICH ADEQUATELY ADDRESS MILITARY SEXUAL TRAUMA EXPERIENCED BY SUCH
VETERANS AS DEVELOPED BY THE STATE DIRECTOR OF VETERANS' AFFAIRS.
S 3. This act shall take effect on the one hundred twentieth day after
it shall have become a law; provided, that any rules and regulations
necessary for the timely implementation of this act on its effective
date shall be promulgated on or before such date.
