BOYLAND -- read once and referred to the Committee on Judiciary AN ACT to amend the family court act, in relation to increasing the number of family court judges for the county of Monroe THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Subdivision (e) of section 131 of the family court act, as amended by chapter 178 of the laws of 2000, is amended to read as follows:
(e) In the county of Monroe there shall be [six] EIGHT family court judges and the number of such judges now existing in said county is hereby increased accordingly; in the county of Erie there shall be six family court judges and the number of such judges now existing in said county is hereby increased accordingly. In the county of Albany there shall be a total of three family court judges and the number of such judges now existing in such county is hereby increased accordingly.
S 2. This act shall take effect immediately except that the family court judges provided for in this act shall first be elected at the general election to be held in November, 2013 and shall first take office January 1, 2014.
