Introduced by M. of A. GALEF -- read once and referred to the Committee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to providing mandate relief to local school districts THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 4 of section 1950 of the education law is amended by adding a new paragraph oo to read as follows: OO. UPON APPROVAL BY A VOTE OF THE BOARD OF COOPERATIVE EDUCATIONAL SERVICES AND OF THE BOARDS OF EDUCATION OF A MAJORITY OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS PARTICIPATING IN THE INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM OF SUCH BOARD, SERVE AS THE ADMINISTRATOR FOR SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS, PRE-KINDERGARTEN TEACHERS AND HUMAN SERVICES PERSONNEL FOR ONE OR MORE OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS. S 2. Paragraph h of subdivision 4 of section 1950 of the education law is amended by adding a new subparagraph 8 to read as follows: (8) TO ENTER INTO CONTRACTS WITH BORDERING STATES FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING CAREER EDUCATION PROGRAMS AND TECHNICAL SERVICES TO STUDENTS RESIDING IN SUCH STATE. S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
