 ATIVE  RESOLUTION  commemorating  the  7th Annual Woodstock Volun-
  Day on August 20, 2011

 S, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call  attention  to
 edicated efforts of those individuals from across the State of New
 ho volunteer their time and energies in service to the  community;

 EAS,  Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
 ng traditions, this Legislative Body is justly  proud  to  commem-
  the  7th Annual Woodstock Volunteers' Day on Saturday, August 20,
 and
 EAS, The Woodstock Volunteers' Day Committee seeks  to  honor  all
 eers  in the community, to enhance the efforts of community organ-
 ns, to raise awareness about the kindness and  generosity  in  the
 ity,  and  to model for the children that the community values the
 eer spirit; and
 EAS, The members of the Volunteers' Day Committee are: Sam  Magar-
  President;  Barry  Samuels,  Vice President; Angela Sweet; Tamara
 ; Kevin Sweeny; Michael Stock; and Allison West; and
 EAS, Volunteers' Day is a day in which the members  of  the  Wood-
  community come together to celebrate all that is good about their
 ity, its people, acts of kindness, and the personal generosity  of
 lunteers; and
 EAS,  The  7th  Annual  Woodstock  Volunteers'  Day recognizes the
 eer members of the  following  organizations:  The  Rescue  Squad,
  Company  No. 5); Woodstock Land Conservancy; Family of Woodstock;
 ompanies No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and their Ladies Auxiliaries;  Angel  Food
  Woodstock Area Meals on Wheels; Friends of the Library; Woodstock
 y Board; Woodstock Community Closet;  Daily  Bread  Soup  Kitchen;
 ock Town Court Mediators; all the volunteers for the Town of Wood-
  Boards,  Committees & Commissions; Village Green Gardeners; Wood-
 Food Pantry; Christmas Eve Committee; Habitat for Humanity;  Wood-
  Cemetery  Association;  American  Legion  Post 1026, Son's of the
  and Auxiliary; Onteora Central School District  Trustees;  Parent
 r Association; Staying in Place; Woodstock Memorial Cemetery Asso-
 n;  Hospice;  Woodstock  Soccer  League;  Woodstock Little League;
 ock Volunteers' Day Committee; the  volunteers  who  replaced  the
 lk  along  the  cemetery;  the  volunteers  for the Woodstock Farm
 al; the volunteers for the Spring Clean Up; the volunteers for the
 giving and Christmas Dinners; Woodstock Beautification  Committee;
 in Black; Overlook Firetower Committee; and
 EAS,  It  also  recognizes  the  volunteer members of the board of
 ors of the following arts organizations: Maverick Concerts; Center
 otography at Woodstock; Woodstock  Guild/Byrdcliffe  Arts  Colony;
 ock Playhouse; Woodstock School of Art; Woodstock Poetry Society &
 al;  Woodstock  Artists  Association  and  Museum;  Woodstock Film
 al; Bird-on-a-Cliff Theater Company; Woodstock Timebank; Woodstock
 ; The Historical Society of Woodstock; Performing  Arts  of  Wood-
  Woodstock Chamber Orchestra; and
 EAS,  Volunteerism  is  an  essential element of all societies; it
 es a way in which the human values of community, caring and  serv-
 n be sustained and strengthened; and
 EAS,  Volunteerism  promotes family and community solidarity; most
 antly, people who volunteer their time  in  civic  and  charitable
 ors inspire others to the call of volunteerism; and
 EAS,  It  is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
 f such noble aims and accomplishments are brought  to  our  atten-

  they  should  be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
 reat Empire State; now, therefore, be it
 LVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
 orate the 7th Annual Woodstock Volunteers' Day on August 20, 2011;

 LVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
 d to the Woodstock Volunteers' Day Committee.
