LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 60th Anniversary of Temple Beth-El of Bellmore, New York WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social and educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and WHEREAS, It is the tradition of this State and this Nation to pay tribute to those institutions and individuals who have contributed to the ethical and spiritual values of their communities; and WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in commemorating the 60th Anniversary of Temple Beth-El of Bellmore, New York; and WHEREAS, Temple Beth-El of Bellmore was established in 1951 to serve the Jewish community of North Bellmore and Bellmore; currently it has members living in the North Merrick, Merrick, Wantagh and East Meadow areas of Long Island, as well as many associate members living in other states; and WHEREAS, A modern and traditional conservative congregation, Temple Beth-El of Bellmore offers morning and evening Minyans as well as Friday Night, Shabbat Morning and Afternoon Services, and Talmud-Torah Study; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Temple Beth-El of Bellmore offers Shabbes Shul Family Service and Lunch; Oneg Shabbat and Holiday Communal Meals; Chil dren's Religious Education; Bar/Bat Mitzvah Instruction and Preparation; Youth Group Activities Kadima and United Synagogue Youth (USY); and Adult Education; and WHEREAS, Temple Beth-El's Sisterhood and Men's Club are vibrant and sponsor a variety of activities that enhance membership; and WHEREAS, Temple Beth-El's United Synagogue Youth Programs for children and teenagers enable youth to meet each other and other young people from different congregations; and WHEREAS, Temple Beth-El's faithful members and dedicated volunteers serve on various action committees such as Adult Education, House Affairs, College, Social Action, Talk Temple Newsletter, Shabbes Shul, and more; and WHEREAS, Through regular events Temple Beth-El's members are brought together to celebrate and participate in Jewish related activities as well as social programs including dances, concerts and bagel breakfasts; and
WHEREAS, Temple Beth-El of Bellmore stands on the threshold of tomor row, prepared to meet the challenges of the coming decades while retain ing that spiritual resolve which characterizes its past; and WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of enduring religious institutions and to bring such institutions to the attention of the people of this Empire State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to commemorate the the 60th Anniversary of Temple Beth-El of Bellmore, New York, fully confident that this commemoration reflects the belief in those values which enhance the dignity and purpose of life; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran smitted to Temple Beth-El of Bellmore, New York.
