ATIVE RESOLUTION commending Cassie Huntress upon the occasion of ing the Girl Scout Silver Award S, Cassie Huntress is a member of Walton, New York Girl Scouts of a Troop 30736 affiliated with the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways l; and EAS, Through her diligence and rigorous efforts, Cassie Huntress arned Cadette Girl Scouting's highest and most prestigious honor, rl Scout Silver Award for 11 to 14-year-old girls in Grades 6-8 rl Scouting's second highest achievement; and EAS, She will be honored at a Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways Young of Distinction event in May 2012; and EAS, Girl Scouting has cultivated in our nation's young people the of building solid values of sisterhood and the importance of work- ith others, stimulating both mind and body, instilling pride, and aging community service and success; and EAS, Girl Scouting has expanded the horizons of the countless women who have participated in the programs which have made Girl ng an American and international institution; and EAS, To earn the Silver Award, Cassie Huntress completed five ements; the first four requirements help girls build skills, e careers, gain leadership skills, and make a commitment to self- ement and are followed by the completion of the fifth requirement, ver Award community service project which Cassie Huntress planned, ped and executed; and EAS, For her Silver Award project, entitled "Safe Against Violence tion," Cassie Huntress, working with others, held a bottle drive se funds, prepared and placed flyers and collection boxes in local sses and churches, made pillowcases from fun patterned materials, ted them, filled them with the items collected, and presented them ple being served by the local Safe Against Violence program and r; and EAS, Cassie Huntress and the other girls collected all new items s magazines, toiletries, soaps and washcloths, combs and brushes, ls, puzzle books and puzzles, coloring books and crayons, small and stuffed animals which were very much appreciated by the shel- d the recipients; and EAS, The Silver Award symbolizes an 11 to 14-year-old Cadette Girl s accomplishments in Girl Scouting and community activities as she s and works to better her life and the lives of others; it is le evidence of Cassie Huntress's high character and commitment, s a harbinger of her future service to her community, New York and our nation; now, therefore, be it LVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to congratulate Cassie Huntress, recognizing her achievement in g the Girl Scout Silver Award and wishing her success, health and ess; and be it further LVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran- d to Cassie Huntress.
