LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring distinguished veteran Paul A. Feddern on
Memorial Day 2012

WHEREAS,  Members  of the Armed Services from the State of New York, who
have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which  this  country's
freedom  was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace in peace-
time, deserve a special salute from this Legislative Body and the people
of the State of New York; and
  WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget  the  courage
with which these men and women have served their country; and
  WHEREAS,  On  Memorial Day this Legislative Body is particularly proud
to commend those  who  have  served  our  country  in  times  of  active
conflict, as well as those who have served in times of peace; and
  WHEREAS,  This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor distinguished
veteran Paul A. Feddern on May 28, 2012, Memorial Day; and
  WHEREAS, Paul Feddern served in the U.S. Army during the  Vietnam  War
from  April  1967  until  his discharge in December 1968; he served with
honor and distinction as a member of the 101st Airborne earning numerous
awards and  medals  including  the  Bronze  Star,  Good  Conduct  Medal,
National  Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallan-
try, Combat Infantry Badge, and the Parachute (Master Jumper) badge; and
  WHEREAS, Paul Feddern was a valued member of  the  NYPD  from  October
1969 until October 1989, retiring as a Detective 3rd Grade; and
  WHEREAS,  A  resident  of Forest Hills, New York, Paul Feddern and his
wife Terry have been married for 40 years; they are the proud parents of
three children and have four grandchildren, all of whom are proud to  be
part of his life and rejoice in his many accomplishments; and
  WHEREAS, Paul Feddern is a Life Member and the Vice President of Viet-
nam Veterans of America (VVA) Queens Chapter 32; and
  WHEREAS,  Paul  Feddern  has exhibited his patriotism both at home and
abroad, demonstrating his love for his country and meriting forevermore,
the highest respect of his State and Nation; and
  WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended and
thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and for
their dedication to their communities, their  State  and  their  Nation;
now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
honor distinguished veteran Paul A. Feddern on Memorial Day 2012; and be
it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Paul A. Feddern.
