.SO DOCS R4846 RESO TEXT 2009 LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Gerard F. Scavelli upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the Dominican Village on May 1, 2010 WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of and publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives of service to their community; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Gerard F. Scavelli upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the Dominican Village at its Annual Dinner Dance to be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010; and WHEREAS, The Dominican Village is a non-sectarian, not-for-profit Independent and Assisted Living Retirement Community, located in Amity ville, Long Island, New York and sponsored by the Sisters of St. Domin ic; and WHEREAS, A resident of East Williston, New York, Gerard F. Scavelli has continually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelli gence and diligent leadership in his unwavering service to both his community and profession; and WHEREAS, Gerard F. Scavelli is the President of Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc.'s Mutual Fund Division and a Broadridge Corporate Offi cer; Broadridge is a Long Island based company and employs over 2000 local residents; and WHEREAS, Gerard F. Scavelli has been with Broadridge for over 13 years and has spent the majority of his time developing and expanding Broadridge's product offering to the financial services industry; and WHEREAS, Most recently, Gerard F. Scavelli has taken responsibility for Broadridge's Mutual Fund Solutions Division, where he is accountable for the overall strategy, operational results and bringing new solutions to the ever changing mutual fund industry; prior to Broadridge, he was the partner in charge of the Long Island practice of a national account ing and consulting firm; and WHEREAS, Gerard F. Scavelli has been called upon to contribute his time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given of himself unstintingly; and WHEREAS, Gerard F. Scavelli has always had a soft spot in his heart for the Dominican Village; he has been involved with the Village since 1986, when he had the pleasure, and holds many fond memories, of working with the members of the Dominican community when Dominican Village was little more than a thought; and WHEREAS, Gerard F. Scavelli has served on the Dominican Village Board for many years and has watched the Village transform through all stages, from architectural drawings to a thriving institution that is home to over 250 residents; and WHEREAS, Community service is very important to Gerard F. Scavelli and his entire family; he and his wife, Cindy, have generously supported many church and community organizations including The Boy Scouts of America, The Girl Scouts of America, The Epilepsy Foundation, Helen Keller Services for the Blind, Friends of the Arts and Hope for a Heal thy Humanity; and WHEREAS, The Scavelli legacy of community service is also being carried out by their children, Michael, Christopher and Andrea, who recognize supporting charitable organizations is vital to being a responsible and productive member of the community; and WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a period of constructive involvement, Gerard F. Scavelli has stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ ual for the benefit of others which Gerard F. Scavelli has displayed throughout his life; and WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to commend Gerard F. Scavelli upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the Dominican Village; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran smitted to Gerard F. Scavelli.
