LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Dorothy Pismopulos upon to occasion of her retirement after 23 years of service with the Ulster County Board of REALTORS WHEREAS, Those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have dedicated themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their community and the needs of its residents are an asset beyond remuneration and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long- standing tradition, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Dorothy Pismopulos upon the occasion of her retirement after 23 years of service with the Ulster County Board of REALTORS; and WHEREAS, Dorothy "Dottie" Pismopulos has dedicated her professional life to real estate, and has given her intelligence and caring dedi- cation to the Ulster County Board of REALTORS since she joined as a realtor in 1975; and WHEREAS, Dorothy Pismopulos decided to pursue her real estate license in 1974, after taking real estate courses while at Ulster County Commu- nity College; she worked with Marilyn Arra, her first real estate mentor, for 13 years at her business; and WHEREAS, Dorothy Pismopulos then sought to start her own business until she received an offer to manage a new Coldwell Banker franchise in New Paltz; throughout her career, she has remained active with the Ulster County Board of REALTORS; and WHEREAS, Throughout the years Dorothy Pismopulos has served on the Ulster County Board of REALTORS as Secretary, Treasurer, President and Director; she became Executive Director in July of 1987; in this capaci- ty she oversaw the transition from a small, leased space in Kingston to a new building in the Rondout district; and WHEREAS, In 1994, together with local realtor Jon Hoyt, Dorothy Pismo- pulos established the Ulster county Board of REALTORS education program which teaches real estate classes, sales courses and the broker's course for members; today, she holds the position as Dean of the Board's School of Real Estate; and WHEREAS, Dorothy Pismopulos has received several awards recognizing her contributions, including the RPAC Distinguished Service Award, a citation for board service from RUPCO, and Member of the Year from the Women's Council of realtors; she was awarded realtor of the Year by her peers at the Board for her volunteer work, she received the Past Presi- dent Award for her term as President and was most recently honored by the New York Association of realtors recognizing her more than 20 years of leadership, commitment and contributions; and WHEREAS, Furthermore, Dorothy Pismopulos has been active in the commu- nity through her work with the Kingston Hospital Auxiliary organizing events but hopes to visit with hospital patients following her retire- ment; she also serves on the zoning board in the Town of Marbletown; and WHEREAS, Dorothy Pismopulos has been called upon to contribute her time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given herself selflessly; and WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, John, and her children, John Jr., Mary, and Athena, as well as her three grandchil- dren, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals for the benefit of others which Dorothy Pismopulos has displayed throughout her life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to commend Dorothy Pismopulos upon to occasion of her retirement after 23 years of service with the Ulster County Board of realtors; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran- smitted to Dorothy Pismopulos, 284 Bush Road, Stone Ridge, New York 12484.
