         ed,  and  when  printed  to  be committed to the Committee on Investi-
         gations and Government Operations -- recommitted to the  Committee  on
         Investigations  and  Government  Operations  in accordance with Senate
         Rule  6,  sec.  8  --  committee  discharged,  bill  amended,  ordered
         reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee

       AN  ACT  to  amend  the  executive  law and the state technology law, in
         relation to global positioning system technology in state vehicles  on
         and after January 1, 2013

         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

    1    Section 1. The executive law is amended by adding a new section  201-b
    2  to read as follows:
    3    S  201-B.  GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM TECHNOLOGY IN STATE VEHICLES.  1.
    4  ALL VEHICLES ACQUIRED FOR STATE USE ON OR AFTER JANUARY FIRST, TWO THOU-
    5  SAND THIRTEEN SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM TECHNOLO-
    6  GY.
    7    2. THE OFFICE OF GENERAL SERVICES, IN COORDINATION WITH THE OFFICE FOR
    8  TECHNOLOGY, SHALL ESTABLISH A PROGRAM TO TRACK VEHICLES ACQUIRED BY  THE
    9  STATE  WITH  THE  GLOBAL  POSITIONING SYSTEM TECHNOLOGY AND SHALL SUBMIT
   10  SUCH PLAN IN WRITING TO THE GOVERNOR, TEMPORARY PRESIDENT OF THE  SENATE
   11  AND  SPEAKER OF THE ASSEMBLY ON OR BEFORE JULY FIRST, TWO THOUSAND THIR-
   12  TEEN.
   13    S 2. The state technology law is amended by adding a new section 103-a
   14  to read as follows:
   15    S 103-A. GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM TECHNOLOGY IN STATE VEHICLES.    1.
   16  ALL VEHICLES ACQUIRED FOR STATE USE ON OR AFTER JANUARY FIRST, TWO THOU-
   17  SAND THIRTEEN SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM TECHNOLO-
   18  GY.
   19    2. THE OFFICE OF GENERAL SERVICES, IN COORDINATION WITH THE OFFICE FOR
   20  TECHNOLOGY,  SHALL ESTABLISH A PROGRAM TO TRACK VEHICLES ACQUIRED BY THE

This act shall take effect immediately and the addition, amend- 6 ment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implemen- 7 tation of this act on its effective date are authorized and directed to 8 be made.
