AN ACT to amend the general  municipal  law,  in  relation  to  allowing
  veterans  to  golf  for  free on municipal courses on Memorial day and
  Veterans' day

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  The  general  municipal  law  is  amended by adding a new
section 72-q to read as follows:
  S 72-Q. GOLFING ON MUNICIPAL COURSES; VETERANS.   NOTWITHSTANDING  ANY
OTHER  PROVISION  OF  LAW  TO  THE  CONTRARY, THE GOVERNING BOARD OF ANY
MUNICIPAL CORPORATION SHALL ALLOW VETERANS  TO  GOLF  FOR  FREE  AT  ALL
MUNICIPAL  COURSES UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE CORPORATION, ON THE DAY
PRESCRIBED BY LAW AS A PUBLIC HOLIDAY FOR THE OBSERVANCE OF MEMORIAL DAY
AND ON THE ELEVENTH DAY OF  NOVEMBER,  KNOWN  AS  VETERANS'  DAY.    FOR
PURPOSES  OF  THIS  SECTION,  "VETERAN" SHALL MEAN ANY PERSON WHO WAS IN
ACTIVE SERVICE IN THE ARMED FORCES OF THE UNITED STATES AND  WAS  HONOR-
ABLY DISCHARGED FROM SUCH SERVICE.
  S  2.  This  act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
have become a law.
