AN  ACT  to  amend the public authorities law, in relation to one-way or
  round trip tickets purchased for use on the Long Island Rail Road  and
  the Metro-North Commuter Railroad Company

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. The public authorities law  is  amended  by  adding  a  new
section 1266-j to read as follows:
  S  1266-J.  LONG  ISLAND  RAIL  ROAD AND METRO-NORTH COMMUTER RAILROAD
COMPANY; REIMBURSEMENT.  NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF LAW, ANY
ONE-WAY OR ROUND TRIP TICKET PURCHASED FOR USE ON THE LONG  ISLAND  RAIL
ROAD OR THE METRO-NORTH COMMUTER RAILROAD COMPANY SHALL BE VALID FOR SIX
MONTHS  FROM  THE DATE OF PURCHASE AND THE AUTHORITY SHALL REIMBURSE ONE
HUNDRED PERCENT OF THE PURCHASE PRICE OF ANY  UNUSED  LONG  ISLAND  RAIL
ROAD  OR  METRO-NORTH  COMMUTER  RAILROAD  COMPANY ONE-WAY OR ROUND TRIP
TICKET TO THE BEARER OF  SUCH  TICKET,  PROVIDED  THAT  SUCH  TICKET  IS
RETURNED WITHIN SIX MONTHS OF THE DATE OF PURCHASE.
  S  2.  This  act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall
have become a law.
