S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 2563 2013-2014 Regular Sessions I N A S S E M B L Y January 16, 2013 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. MILLER -- read once and referred to the Committee on Cities AN ACT to amend the general city law, in relation to requiring notice of public work projects to residents in certain cities THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The general city law is amended by adding a new section 18-e to read as follows: S 18-E. NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION, REPAIRS, PUBLIC WORK. ANY CITY WITH A POPULATION OF ONE MILLION OR MORE SHALL, WITHIN THREE DAYS OF ANY CONSTRUCTION PROJECT, REPAIR WORK PROJECT OR OTHER PUBLIC WORK PROJECT, NOTIFY RESIDENTS WITHIN A HALF MILE RADIUS OF THE WORK SITE WHERE SUCH PROJECT WILL BE PERFORMED OF SUCH PROJECT. SUCH NOTICE SHALL BE MADE WITH SUFFICIENT SIGNAGE TO READILY NOTIFY SUCH RESIDENTS OF THE EXPECTED DURATION OF SUCH PROJECT, ANY INTERRUPTION IN UTILITY SERVICES, AND THE GENERAL DETAILS OF THE WORK TO BE PERFORMED. ANY CONSTRUCTION PROJECT, REPAIR WORK PROJECT OR OTHER PUBLIC WORK PROJECT TO BE PERFORMED WHICH A CITY ANTICIPATES WILL BE LESS THAN FORTY-EIGHT HOURS IN DURATION SHALL NOT BE SUBJECT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION, UNLESS A DISRUPTION IN A UTILITY SERVICE IS EXPECTED. S 2. This act shall take effect on the sixtieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
