AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to prohibiting the use of social security numbers from being used as identification for individuals
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The general business law is amended by adding a new section 399-j to read as follows:
S 399-J. PROHIBIT USE OF SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS AS IDENTIFICATION. SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS SHALL NOT BE USED IN THE IDENTIFICATION OF INDI VIDUALS.
S 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD00789-01-1
