REILICH -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to registration of funeral vehicles THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new section 116-a to read as follows: S 116-A. FUNERAL VEHICLE. 1. A VEHICLE OWNED AND OPERATED BY A FUNERAL ESTABLISHMENT OR FUNERAL FIRM, LICENSED AND REGISTERED PURSUANT TO ARTI- CLE THIRTY-FOUR OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH LAW, USED EXCLUSIVELY WHILE TRAVEL- ING TO OR FROM A FUNERAL, INTERMENT, CREMATION, PLACE OF DEATH OR OTHER DESTINATION FOR THE ACCEPTANCE AND SHIPMENT OF THE BODY OR REMAINS OF A DECEASED PERSON. 2. A FUNERAL VEHICLE SHALL BE SUBJECT TO REGISTRATION PURSUANT TO SUBDIVISION SIX OF SECTION FOUR HUNDRED ONE OF THIS CHAPTER. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
