AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to registration
  of funeral vehicles

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  The  vehicle  and  traffic law is amended by adding a new
section 116-a to read as follows:
  S 116-A. FUNERAL VEHICLE. 1. A VEHICLE OWNED AND OPERATED BY A FUNERAL
ESTABLISHMENT OR FUNERAL FIRM, LICENSED AND REGISTERED PURSUANT TO ARTI-
CLE THIRTY-FOUR OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH LAW, USED EXCLUSIVELY WHILE TRAVEL-
ING TO OR FROM A FUNERAL, INTERMENT, CREMATION, PLACE OF DEATH OR  OTHER
DESTINATION  FOR THE ACCEPTANCE AND SHIPMENT OF THE BODY OR REMAINS OF A
DECEASED PERSON.
  2. A FUNERAL VEHICLE SHALL BE  SUBJECT  TO  REGISTRATION  PURSUANT  TO
SUBDIVISION SIX OF SECTION FOUR HUNDRED ONE OF THIS CHAPTER.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
