AN  ACT  to  amend  the  general business law, in relation to prohibited
  practices of creditors

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  Section  601  of  the  general business law is amended by
adding a new subdivision 6-a to read as follows:
  6-A. COMMUNICATE WITH THE DEBTOR OR ANY MEMBER OF HIS OR HER FAMILY OR
HOUSEHOLD AT ANY MEDICAL CARE FACILITY OR ANY  FACILITY  LICENSED  UNDER
ARTICLE  TWENTY-EIGHT  OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH LAW; OR REPRESENT THEMSELVES
AS EMPLOYEES OF SUCH FACILITY IN ORDER TO COMMUNICATE  A  DEBT  TO  SUCH
DEBTOR; OR PREVENT OR DISCOURAGE SUCH DEBTOR FROM RECEIVING MEDICAL CARE
OR  TREATMENT  BY  THE  PRESENCE OF SUCH CREDITOR AT A FACILITY LICENSED
UNDER ARTICLE TWENTY-EIGHT OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH LAW.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
