CASTELLI, CONTE, CORWIN, DUPREY, GIGLIO, JORDAN, McKEVITT, REILLY, SAYWARD, TEDISCO, THIELE -- read once and referred to the Committee on Election Law AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to absentee voting THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 8-400 of the election law is amended by adding a new subdivision 11 to read as follows: 11. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF LAW, A QUALIFIED VOTER IN ANY VILLAGE, TOWN, CITY, OR SCHOOL OR FIRE DISTRICT MAY VOTE IN ANY SPECIAL ELECTION, DISTRICT ELECTION OR LOCAL REFERENDUM BY ABSENTEE BALLOT PURSUANT TO THIS SECTION. S 2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next succeed- ing the date on which it shall have become a law.EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
