WRIGHT -- read once and referred to the Committee on Judiciary AN ACT to amend the judiciary law, in relation to authorizing courts to issue bench warrants for criminal contempt of orders of protection THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 750 of the judiciary law is amended by adding a new subdivision D to read as follows: D. IN CONNECTION WITH A REPORT TO A COURT OF RECORD OF A VIOLATION OF AN ORDER OF PROTECTION OR TEMPORARY ORDER OF PROTECTION MADE BY OR ON BEHALF OF THE PERSON FOR WHOSE PROTECTION THE ORDER WAS ISSUED, THE COURT MAY ISSUE A BENCH WARRANT FOR THE ARREST OF THE ALLEGED VIOLATOR. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD05031-01-5
