ENGLEBRIGHT -- Multi-Sponsored by -- M. of A. RIVERA -- read once and referred to the Committee on Health AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to authorizing the attorney general to enforce the provisions of such law and the rules and regulations adopted pursuant thereto THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The public health law is amended by adding a new section 13-a to read as follows: S 13-A. POWERS OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY PROVISION OF THIS CHAPTER TO THE CONTRARY, THE ATTORNEY GENERAL, UPON HIS OR HER OWN INITIATIVE, IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO, IN THE NAME OF THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, ENFORCE THE PROVISIONS OF THIS CHAPTER AND THE RULES AND REGULATIONS PROMULGATED PURSUANT THERETO BY COMMENCING A SPECIAL PROCEEDING IN A COURT HAVING JURISDICTION.
