COOK -- Multi-Sponsored by -- M. of A. BOYLAND, CLARK, COLTON, GOTTFRIED -- read once and referred to the Committee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to authorizing the metropolitan transportation authority inspector general to dele- gate the power to take testimony to any member of his or her staff THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph (e) of subdivision 4 of section 1279 of the public authorities law, as amended by chapter 322 of the laws of 1985, is amended to read as follows: (e) to subpoena witnesses, administer oaths or affirmations, take testimony and compel the production of such books, papers, records and documents as he may deem to be relevant to any inquiry or investigation undertaken pursuant to this section and to delegate such powers to a duly authorized deputy inspector general; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT THE POWER TO TAKE TESTIMONY MAY BE DELEGATED TO A FIRST DEPUTY INSPECTOR GENERAL, A DEPUTY INSPECTOR GENERAL, AN ASSISTANT DEPUTY INSPECTOR GENERAL, A GENERAL COUNSEL, A SUPERVISING ASSOCIATE GENERAL COUNSEL, AN ASSOCIATE GENERAL COUNSEL, AN ASSISTANT GENERAL COUNSEL, A CHIEF INVES- TIGATOR, A DEPUTY CHIEF INVESTIGATOR, A SENIOR PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR, A PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR, AN AUDIT MANAGER OR AN AUDITOR-IN-CHARGE; S 2.
