AN ACT to amend the legislative law, in relation to prohibiting member
items
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The legislative law is amended by adding a new section 54-b
to read as follows:
S 54-B. PROHIBITION OF MEMBER ITEMS. 1. THERE SHALL BE NO MEMBER
ITEMS IN THE TWO THOUSAND ELEVEN -- TWO THOUSAND TWELVE BUDGET FROM
FISCAL YEAR APRIL FIRST, TWO THOUSAND ELEVEN TO MARCH THIRTY-FIRST, TWO
THOUSAND TWELVE.
2. FOR PURPOSES OF THIS SECTION, "MEMBER ITEMS" SHALL MEAN ANY PORTION
OF STATE FUNDING ALLOCATED BY THE SENATE AND ASSEMBLY TO BE USED FOR
COMMUNITY PROJECTS, CIVIC PROJECTS, PUBLIC HEALTH INITIATIVES, OR OTHER
PUBLIC USE SPECIFICALLY IN THE RECIPIENT MEMBERS' DISTRICTS.
S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
