FAHY -- (at request of the Office of General Services) -- read once and referred to the Committee on Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development AN ACT to amend chapter 303 of the laws of 1988 relating to the exten- sion of the state commission on the restoration of the capitol, in relation to extending such provisions for an additional five years THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 2 of chapter 303 of the laws of 1988, relating to the extension of the state commission on the restoration of the capitol, as amended by chapter 92 of the laws of 2008, is amended to read as follows: S 2. The temporary state commission on the restoration of the capitol is hereby renamed as the state commission on the restoration of the capitol (hereinafter to be referred to as the "commission") and is here- by continued until April 1, [2013] 2018. The commission shall consist of eleven members to be appointed as follows: five members shall be appointed by the governor; two members shall be appointed by the tempo- rary president of the senate; two members shall be appointed by the speaker of the assembly; one member shall be appointed by the minority leader of the senate; one member shall be appointed by the minority leader of the assembly, together with the commissioner of general services and the commissioner of parks, recreation and historic preser- vation. The term for each elected member shall be for three years, except that of the first five members appointed by the governor, one shall be for a one year term, and two shall be for a two year term, and one of the first appointments by the president of the senate and by the speaker of the assembly shall be for a two year term. Any vacancy that occurs in the commission shall be filled in the same manner in which the original appointment was made. The commission shall elect a chairman and a vice-chairman from among its members.
