AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to  establishing  a  task
  force  to  evaluate the implementation of the common core state stand-
  ards

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 115 to
read as follows:
  S 115. COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS EVALUATION TASK FORCE.  1. A. THERE
IS  ESTABLISHED  THE  COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS EVALUATION TASK FORCE.
THE PURPOSE OF THE TASK FORCE SHALL BE TO STUDY  THE  IMPLEMENTATION  OF
THE COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS DEVELOPED BY THE COMMON CORE STATE STAN-
DARDS INITIATIVE.
  B. THE TASK FORCE SHALL CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING NINETEEN MEMBERS:
  (1)  THE COMMISSIONER, OR THE COMMISSIONER'S DESIGNEE, WHO SHALL SERVE
EX OFFICIO;
  (2) EIGHT MEMBERS APPOINTED BY THE GOVERNOR, ONE UPON THE  RECOMMENDA-
TION  OF  THE UNITED FEDERATION OF TEACHERS, ONE UPON THE RECOMMENDATION
OF THE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS ASSOCIATION OF NEW YORK STATE, ONE UPON THE
RECOMMENDATION OF THE NEW YORK STATE TEACHERS ASSOCIATION, ONE UPON  THE
RECOMMENDATION  OF  THE  ASSOCIATION FOR SUPERVISION AND CURRICULUM, ONE
UPON THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE NEW YORK STATE SCHOOL BOARDS ASSOCIATION,
ONE REPRESENTATIVE OF A NONPUBLIC SCHOOL LOCATED IN NEW YORK STATE,  AND
TWO  PUBLIC  MEMBERS  WHO  ARE  THE  PARENTS  OR  GUARDIANS OF A STUDENT
ENROLLED IN A NEW YORK STATE PUBLIC SCHOOL;
  (3) TWO MEMBERS OF THE SENATE, WHO SHALL NOT BE FROM  THE  SAME  POLI-
TICAL PARTY, APPOINTED BY THE TEMPORARY PRESIDENT;
  (4)  TWO MEMBERS OF THE ASSEMBLY, WHO SHALL NOT BE FROM THE SAME POLI-
TICAL PARTY, APPOINTED BY THE SPEAKER OF THE ASSEMBLY;
