LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Scott Lewendon upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Saving Special Places Award by the
Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Scott Lewendon upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Saving Special Places Award by the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy, to be
celebrated on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Creo Restaurant in Albany, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Scott Lewendon has volunteered a significant amount of time
and effort working on the Hudson Rail Trail; Mohawk Hudson Land Conser-
vancy rents the land from Albany County, which owns it, given up by the
former Delaware and Hudson Railroad in the 1990s; and
WHEREAS, Albany County purchased it in the early 2000s hoping to make
it into a walking/recreation trail, but was unable to accomplish this
due to financial constraints; Scott Lewendon has done a great deal of
design and organizational work all on a volunteer basis in order to
allow Mohawk Hudson to make this former Railroad line into the envi-
sioned recreational trail; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Scott Lewendon's distinguished
record merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative
Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Scott Lewendon upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Saving Special Places Award by the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservan-
cy; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Scott Lewendon.
