LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Suffolk County Police Benevolent
Association upon the occasion of hosting its Silver Shield Awards and
Installation Dinner Dance, and congratulating the 2013 Silver Shield
Award honorees

WHEREAS, The quality of life of the communities of New York State and
our nation is largely reflective of the commitment and dedication demon-
strated by those, such as the members of the Suffolk County Police
Benevolent Association, who devote their lives and careers in service to
the needs and protection of their community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the Suffolk
County Police Benevolent Association upon the occasion of hosting its
Silver Shield Awards and Installation Dinner Dance to be held on Friday,
April 26, 2013, at Villa Lombardi's in Holbrook, New York, and to
commend the 2013 Silver Shield Award honorees; and
WHEREAS, This year's recipients of the esteemed Silver Shield Award
have distinguished themselves in the line of duty while serving the
citizens of Suffolk County and the Suffolk County Police; furthermore,
they have demonstrated acts of bravery that far exceed what would
normally be expected of them; and
WHEREAS, These courageous and respected Police Officers include: 2009
- Sean Mahony, Jason LaRosa, James Oresto and Matthew Pellegrini; 2010 -
Kathleen Focas, Anthony Calato, Keith Jordan, Terance Monahan, Peter
Cucchiara, Clifford Lent and Gregg Schleier; 2011 - Matthew DeMatteo;
and 2012 - Paul Pattilio, Daniel Hartman, Walter Fingerle and Patricia
Davis; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize and commend such outstanding
law enforcement officers for their valued contributions to the communi-
ty; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Suffolk County Police Benevolent Association upon the occa-
sion of hosting its Silver Shield Awards and Installation Dinner Dance,
and to congratulate the 2013 Silver Shield Award honorees; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Suffolk County Police Benevolent Association, and the afore-
mentioned 2013 Silver Shield Award honorees.
