LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Lois Conklin upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Albany County Historical
Association on December 6, 2012

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Lois Conklin has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Lois Conklin
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Albany County Historical Association (ACHA), celebrated at its Holiday
House Champagne Preview Party on Thursday, December 6, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Celebrating its 70th year of existence, ACHA maintains the
Ten Broeck Mansion, as well as its gardens and collections, standing
behind its mission to preserve, present and promote the rich and diverse
history and culture of Albany County; and
WHEREAS, Lois Conklin has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Lois Conklin has been involved with the Albany County Histor-
ical Association for almost 30 years; she had originally been appointed
to the Board of Trustees and remained on the Board until she stepped
down in June of 2012, serving in the capacity of 2nd Vice President; and
WHEREAS, She has been involved in every aspect of the organization and
is responsible for much of the current appearance of the Ten Broeck
Mansion; as a member of the Collections Committee she was instrumental
in selecting the carpeting and window treatments and has been involved
in many of the refurbishment and preservation projects throughout the
Mansion; and
WHEREAS, Lois Conklin's innovative programming ideas and her execution
kept much needed revenue flowing in and supported the educational
programming of the ACHA; this remarkable woman, who is always positive
and is beloved by the entire organization, is a lady who can truly get
things done; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Lois Conklin has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Lois Conklin has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lois Conklin upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Albany County Historical Association on December 6,
2012; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lois Conklin.
