LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  commending the Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health
Center upon the occasion of its 35th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality of life in the communities across this great State of  New  York
is  enriched  by  the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions of distinction whose singular purpose is the care and  welfare  of
others; and
  WHEREAS,  Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly  proud  to  commend
the  Bedford-Stuyvesant  Family  Health  Center upon the occasion of its
35th Anniversary, to be celebrated at a Dinner,  "Embracing  New  Begin-
nings" at Glen Terrace in Brooklyn, New York; and
  WHEREAS, The Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center began serving the
primary  health  care  needs  of its Central Brooklyn/Bedford-Stuyvesant
community in 1978; and
  WHEREAS, Highly regarded for its array and quality  of  services,  the
Bedford-Stuyvesant  Family  Health  Center  is reflective of the diverse
neighborhoods it serves; it has a full  staff  of  culturally  sensitive
physicians  and  personnel who speak English, Spanish, French Creole and
many other dialects; signing capability for the hearing impaired is also
available on-site; and
  WHEREAS, In April of 2012 the Center moved from the 10,000 square feet
rented space it had occupied for  23  years  to  its  newly  constructed
state-of-the-art  38,000  square  feet  facility  diagonally  across the
street; the new building represents a renewed commitment to  the  health
and well-being of Central Brooklyn; and
  WHEREAS,  Our  community  health  centers  serve  the vital purpose of
providing for the healthcare needs of our citizens through excellence in
the delivery of medical services; and
  WHEREAS, The Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center, and  its  expert
staff, has had a long and sustained commitment to the health and welfare
of  its  unique  and  diverse community and therefore merits the highest
commendation of this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body is justly proud  to  commend  the
Bedford-Stuyvesant  Family  Health  Center upon the occasion of its 35th
Anniversary, fully confident that it will continue to play a  leadership
role in healthcare for many years to come; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center.
