LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Evangeline Canfield upon the occa-
sion of receiving the Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its  long-standing  traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the  ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
  WHEREAS,  Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to  congratu-
late Evangeline Canfield upon the occasion of receiving the Chancellor's
Award for Student Excellence; and
  WHEREAS,  The Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence is the highest
student recognition in the State University of New York system; and
  WHEREAS, Evangeline Canfield, a music major at SUNY  Oswego,  received
her  award  in a ceremony at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in
Albany, on April 4, 2013; and
  WHEREAS, A resident of Fulton, New  York,  Evangeline  Canfield  is  a
pianist,  who co-founded with her twin sister, Elizabeth, the Rubenstein
Society for piano enthusiasts at SUNY Oswego; and
  WHEREAS, Evangeline Canfield has volunteered  extensively  around  the
region  as  a  piano  instructor,  accompanist and performer for budding
young pianists, as well as at the Oswego Public Library;  she  has  also
performed  at  the opening of the LaVeck Concert Series and for the City
of Fulton's annual tree lighting ceremony; and
  WHEREAS, Evangeline Canfield was selected to perform at the  SUNY-wide
University Faculty Senate Plenary Showcase; and
  WHEREAS,  Among  her  honors,  Evangeline  Canfield  received the 2012
Maurice O. Boyd Scholarship as the SUNY Oswego music  department's  most
outstanding   upperclassman,   and   has   attended  the  University  of
Cincinnati's summer conservatory program; and
  WHEREAS, Evangeline Canfield exemplifies the best potential  which  is
inherent  in  our  most  precious  resource,  our youth; she has brought
enduring honor to her family and her community through her many achieve-
ments; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
congratulate  Evangeline  Canfield  upon  the  occasion of receiving the
Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Evangeline Canfield.
