Congratulating Elizabeth Canfield upon the occasion of receiving the Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence

LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION congratulating Elizabeth Canfield upon the occa-
sion of receiving the Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today,  and  leaders
of  tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its  long-
standing  traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Elizabeth Canfield upon the occasion of receiving the  Chancellor's
Award for Student Excellence; and
  WHEREAS,  The Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence is the highest
student recognition in the State University of New York system; and
  WHEREAS, Elizabeth Canfield, a music major at  SUNY  Oswego,  received
her  award  in a ceremony at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in
Albany, on April 4, 2013; and
  WHEREAS, A resident of Fulton, New York, Elizabeth Canfield is a pian-
ist, who co-founded with her twin  sister,  Evangeline,  the  Rubenstein
Society for piano enthusiasts at SUNY Oswego; and
  WHEREAS,  Elizabeth  Canfield  has  performed  for numerous audiences,
including the Middle States Showcase, and the Quest Honors Recitals,  as
well as during her Senior Recital; and
  WHEREAS,  In  addition  to  her musical talent, Elizabeth Canfield has
served her community working with children at  an  Adirondack  camp  and
co-hosting piano clinics in Pulaski; and
  WHEREAS, Elizabeth Canfield was previously selected for a summer study
program  at  the  University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music
where she performed Mozart's Double  Piano  Concerto  with  her  sister,
Evangeline, and the College-Community Orchestra; and
  WHEREAS,  Elizabeth  Canfield  exemplifies the best potential which is
inherent in our most precious  resource,  our  youth;  she  has  brought
enduring honor to her family and her community through her many achieve-
ments; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Elizabeth Canfield  upon  the  occasion  of  receiving  the
Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Elizabeth Canfield.
