LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  congratulating  the  Mexico Academy and Central
School District upon the occasion of being recognized  as  a  2013  Best
Communities for Music Education in the United States

WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense  of  this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of true purpose and  high  achievement  whose
exemplary  programs  and  accomplishment clearly demonstrate an enduring
pursuit of excellence in the musical  education  of  the  youth  of  the
Empire State; and
  WHEREAS,  Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to  congratu-
late the Mexico Academy and Central School District upon the occasion of
being  recognized  as a 2013 Best Communities for Music Education in the
United States; and
  WHEREAS, This recognition acknowledges schools  and  school  districts
throughout  the  United States for their commitment and support of music
education; and
  WHEREAS, Nearly 2,000 schools competed  for  the  recognition;  Mexico
Academy  and  Central School District is one of 373 communities, schools
and school districts to earn this distinction in 2013; and
  WHEREAS, This recognition was made possible due to the  dedication  of
the  music directors, students, faculty, administration and community of
the Mexico Academy and Central School District; and
  WHEREAS, The Mexico Academy and Central School District has shown  its
commitment  to the value of music education and its importance in devel-
oping students' abilities to be creative and innovative; and
  WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body that when  insti-
tutions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion,  they  should  be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
congratulate  the  Mexico  Academy  and Central School District upon the
occasion of being recognized as a 2013 Best Communities for Music Educa-
tion in the United States; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Mexico Academy and Central School District.
