LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring  Roberta Vogt upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Excellence in Alumni Service Award  from
the University at Albany Alumni Association

WHEREAS,  The  State  of New York takes great pride in acknowledging its
esteemed residents who have distinguished themselves in their community;
and
  WHEREAS, Roberta "Bobbi" Vogt will be honored  by  the  University  at
Albany  Alumni  Association  with the Excellence in Alumni Service Award
during its Excellence Awards Gala to be held at  the  Albany  Hilton  on
April 20, 2013; and
  WHEREAS,  This  prestigious  honor recognizes sustained leadership and
service to the Alumni Association and the University at Albany; and
  WHEREAS, Bobbi earned a bachelors degree from the University in  1986,
and a masters in 1988; and
  WHEREAS,  She  is  currently  a  team manager in Key Bank's technology
area, and has partnered with  the  University  since  2008  on  numerous
projects  which promote technology education, support women in technolo-
gy, and assists the University in preparing students for positions after
their graduation; and
  WHEREAS, In 2008, Bobbi worked  with  the  College  of  Computing  and
Information to secure sponsorship from Key Bank and to co-plan the first
local  Junior  FIRST  Lego  League,  a world-wide program that uses Lego
building blocks to interest students ages 6 through  9  in  science  and
technology; and
  WHEREAS, For the last five years, she has facilitated two-day software
development workshops; and
  WHEREAS, Bobbi is also a contributor to the University's career devel-
opment  programs  and  has served as a speaker in classes and at special
events; she has also served as a consultant  for  the  computer  science
faculty and has provided individual guidance to students; and
  WHEREAS,  She  is  currently planning and hosting a Leadership Retreat
with the College of Computing  and  Information's  Women  in  Technology
Program; and
  WHEREAS,  Bobbi  has also obtained sponsorship for the second New York
Celebration of Women in Computing, outlined and advocated for an intern-
ship program, and is now working  to  design  a  shadowing  program  for
female undergraduates; and
  WHEREAS, She has exhibited the true spirit of the Excellence in Alumni
Service  Award  through  her  tireless  dedication to helping University
students embark on their own challenging careers; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
congratulate Roberta Vogt upon the occasion of her designation as recip-
ient  of  the  Excellence in Alumni Service Award from the University at
Albany Alumni Association; and, be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Roberta Vogt.
