LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  commending Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home upon the
occasion of its designation as recipient of the 2013 Milestone Award  by
the Herkimer County Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS,  It  is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the  communities  across  New  York
State  are  reflective  of  the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations which devote themselves to the welfare  of  the  community
and its citizenry; and
  WHEREAS,  Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly  proud  to  commend
Whiter-Hendrix  Funeral  Home  upon  the  occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2013 Milestone Award by the Herkimer County Chamber  of
Commerce; and
  WHEREAS,  This auspicious occasion will be celebrated at the Chamber's
45th Annual Membership Meeting and Luncheon on Thursday, April 25, 2013,
at the Knights Inn in Little Falls, New York; and
  WHEREAS, Established in 1893  in  Forestport,  New  York,  by  H.  Abe
Whiter, Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home has been handed down from generation
to  generation  ever  since,  each  one  building  on  the  tradition of
personal, professional and compassionate service; and
  WHEREAS, Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home relocated to  Ilion  following  a
fire  in 1906; the original location in Ilion was on West Street and the
business later moved to its present location on Otsego Street  in  1936;
and
  WHEREAS,  The business was handed down through five generations of the
family; these generations include: H. Abe and Erminia Whiter, Roscoe and
Anna Whiter, Howard L. and  Erminia  (Whiter)  Hendrix,  Len  and  Sandy
Hendrix, and Scott and Geri Hendrix; and
  WHEREAS,  The  Hendrix  name was added in 1958; Whiter-Hendrix Funeral
Home is currently owned and operated by Len and Scott Hendrix; they  are
both  licensed  funeral  directors and respectively represent the fourth
and fifth generations of the family to own and operate the firm; and
  WHEREAS, With the ability to accommodate 200 individuals,  Whiter-Hen-
drix  Funeral Home is a full-service funeral home whose services include
traditional and modern funeral services; its facilities are fully  hand-
icap  accessible with two ramps and wide doorways and offers the largest
casket display room in its area; and
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when  organiza-
tions  of  such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all  the  citizens  of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home upon the occasion of its designation
as recipient of the 2013 Milestone Award by the Herkimer County  Chamber
of Commerce; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Hendrix Family.
