Congratulating Antonio Giuseppe Rubino upon the occasion of celebrating his 100th Birthday

LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  congratulating Antonio Giuseppe Rubino upon the
occasion of celebrating his 100th Birthday

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and  knowledge  to
the  increasingly  active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Antonio
Giuseppe Rubino upon the occasion of his 100th Birthday; a luncheon  was
held  in  his  honor on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at the William Koehler
Center in Mahopac, New York; and
  WHEREAS, Antonio "Tony" Giuseppe Rubino was born in Mount Vernon,  New
York,  on  March  28,  1913;  he was one of 10 children and believed his
father was the most influential person in his life; and
  WHEREAS, Tony Rubino's first job was serving as a water  boy  for  the
Water  Department  of New York City; he then worked at the RKO Proctor's
Theater, an old vaudeville theater and movie house; and
  WHEREAS, For almost five decades, Tony  Rubino  was  employed  as  the
Superintendent  of  Service  at  The  Windsor Hotel of Manhattan; it was
there he met many famous people such  as  Alan  Funt,  Desi  Arnaz,  Don
Ameche, Artie Shaw, Ernest Borgnine, and others; and
  WHEREAS,  In  1941,  Tony Rubino married and he and his wife had three
daughters; today, Tony is the loving grandfather of  two  grandchildren;
  WHEREAS,  Today, Tony Rubino still loves to drive his automobile, and,
as an avid dancer, he visits the William Koehler Memorial Senior  Center
in  Mahopac on Friday afternoons and dances to the Big Band music during
Social Dancing; and
  WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian, with his  zest  for  life,  has
inspired and enhanced the lives of his family and friends; and
  WHEREAS,  This  distinguished  man has experienced the incredible joys
and sorrows characteristic of and reserved for those  with  the  stamina
and courage to savor a full life; and
  WHEREAS,  Tony  Rubino  has  enriched  the  lives  of those around him
through his joyous and sincere love for others and through the quiescent
charm and wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years; and
  WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly  recog-
nize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have witnessed
and  celebrated  the  innovations,  cultural  developments  and  awesome
achievements of this country during the last century,  while  themselves
contributing  to  the  growth and excellence of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
congratulate  Antonio  Giuseppe  Rubino  upon  the occasion of his 100th
Birthday; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Antonio Giuseppe Rubino.
