LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ed Paparella upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2012 Community Service Award by the
North Utica Senior Citizens Community Center

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Ed Paparella has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ed Paparella
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2012 Community
Service Award by the North Utica Senior Citizens Community Center, to be
celebrated on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Harts Hill in Whitesboro,
New York; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of the Greater Utica area, Ed Paparella
is a graduate of Thomas R. Proctor High School and Mohawk Valley Commu-
nity College; and
WHEREAS, In 1996, Ed Paparella completed a very rewarding 36-year
career in banking; and
WHEREAS, Ed Paparella has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, Ed Paparella has been involved in area Rotary
Clubs, served on several Community Boards, and has been a committed
member of numerous organizations, some of which include Habitat for
Humanity, SCORE, The Good News Foundation, Voice of the Faithful, Break-
through Central New York, United Way, Utica Industrial Development
Corporation, Office of the Aging, and The Community Foundation of
Herkimer and Oneida Counties, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Ed Paparella has been the recipient of numerous awards and
accolades for his selfless commitment to community service, including
the Rotary District Governors Exemplar Award, the Rotary Award for
Outstanding Service to Families and Communities, and the Leonard F.
Wilbur-James Blackshear Kiwanis Memorial Award, to name a few; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Ed Paparella has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife Barbara and their 11
children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Ed Paparella has displayed through-
out his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ed Paparella upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2012 Community Service Award by the North Utica Senior Citizens
Community Center; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ed Paparella.
