LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION commending the Tri-County Council of Vietnam Era
Veterans of the Joseph E. Zaloga American  Legion  Post  1520  upon  the
occasion of sponsoring the Please Remember Me Project

WHEREAS,  Organizations  and  events  which  serve  the interests of the
people of the Empire State merit the commendation  of  this  Legislative
Body; and
  WHEREAS,  Veterans  of  the Armed Services from the State of New York,
who have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which  this  coun-
try's  freedom  was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace in
peacetime, deserve a special salute from this Legislative Body; and
  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved with great respect and  rever-
ent esteem to pay tribute to the men and women who so courageously serve
and have served in the Armed Forces of the United States; and
  WHEREAS,  Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly  proud  to  commend
the  Tri-County Council of Vietnam Era Veterans of the Joseph E.  Zaloga
American Legion Post 1520 upon the occasion  of  sponsoring  the  Please
Remember Me Project; and
  WHEREAS, On Tuesday, May 7, 2013, the Joseph E. Zaloga American Legion
Post  1520  of  Albany,  New  York, is hosting a ceremony to honor those
Capital Region veterans who served from World War II to the  present  in
overseas  operations of the United States Armed Forces, and who paid the
supreme sacrifice in giving their lives to preserve freedom; and
  WHEREAS, In addition, on Saturday, May  18,  2013,  the  first  annual
observance for these heroes will feature a motorcade procession of vehi-
cles  and  veteran  bikers  from local organizations along four miles of
Route 9, originally known as "The  Military  Highway";  this  procession
will be led by Gold Star mothers, fathers and family members; and
  WHEREAS,  In  observance of the Please Remember Me Project, flags will
be raised on 120 utility poles with solar lights from  Memorial  Day  to
the Fourth of July each year; and
  WHEREAS,  Our  Nation's  veterans  and  veterans'  organizations,  who
unselfishly devote their lives to the  preservation  of  order  and  the
protection of others, deserve to be recognized, commended and thanked by
the  people  of  the  State  of New York for their service and for their
dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation; they  are
worthy and due full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; and
  WHEREAS,  It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions and events of such noble aims and accomplishments are  brought  to
our  attention,  they  should  be recognized by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
commend  the Tri-County Council of Vietnam Era Veterans of the Joseph E.
Zaloga American Legion Post 1520 upon the  occasion  of  sponsoring  the
Please Remember Me Project; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted  to the Tri-County Council of Vietnam Era Veterans of the Joseph
E. Zaloga American Legion Post 1520.
