LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring Kewan Beebe upon the occasion of being
named the Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize  and  pay
tribute  to  those  young  people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and  who  serve  as  role
models for their peers; and
  WHEREAS,  Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body  is  justly  proud  to  honor
Kewan  Beebe upon the occasion of being named the Glen Cove Boys & Girls
Club Youth of the Year; and
  WHEREAS, Being named Youth of the Year is the highest honor a  Boys  &
Girls  Club  member  can  receive; the nomination recognizes outstanding
contributions to a member's family, school, community and Boys  &  Girls
Club, as well as overcoming personal challenges and obstacles; the hono-
rees  are  shining examples and living proof that great futures start at
Boys & Girls Clubs; and
  WHEREAS, Although losing his mother at  age  13  and  overcoming  many
difficult  challenges in his life, Kewan Beebe has made an impact at the
Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club for the past few years,  being  involved  in
Sports  Club,  Passport to Manhood, and Keystone Clubs; active in Club's
Basketball Program, he is always willing to lend a helping hand; and
  WHEREAS, A great example of what a student athlete  should  be,  Kewan
Beebe  was  one of the star players on the Glen Cove High School Varsity
Basketball Team; last year he helped lead the team to  becoming  confer-
ence champions and was granted numerous individual honors; and
  WHEREAS,  Glen  Cove Boys & Girls Club has been instrumental in saving
Kewan Beebe's life; he is preparing  for  college  where  he  will  play
basketball  and  pursue  an  education in business/sports management; in
addition, having a desire in working with the youth, his  ultimate  goal
is to give back by helping the unfortunate; and
  WHEREAS,  It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor the youth
of today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best
exemplify the ideals and  values  cherished  by  this  great  State  and
Nation; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kewan Beebe upon the occasion of being named the  Glen  Cove  Boys
Girls Club Youth of the Year; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kewan Beebe.
