LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  congratulating  Ciera Cole upon the occasion of
receiving the distinguished Girl Scout Silver Award,  the  most  presti-
gious of Cadette Scouting honors, on May 21, 2013

WHEREAS,  Ciera  Cole,  through  her diligence and rigorous efforts, has
achieved Cadette Scouting's highest honor, the Girl Scout Silver  Award;
the  ceremony  will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Elmira College,
Elmira, New York; and
  WHEREAS, Ciera Cole is a member of Girl Scouts of America Troop 40405,
Montour Falls, New York; and
  WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has cultivated in our Nation's young people the
goals of building solid values of sisterhood and the importance of work-
ing with others, stimulating both mind and body, instilling  pride,  and
encouraging community service and success; and
  WHEREAS,  Girl  Scouting  has  expanded  the horizons of the countless
hundreds of thousands who have participated in Scouting  programs  which
have made Scouting an American and international institution; and
  WHEREAS,  America  has  achieved her greatest heights of glory through
the dedication, determination and tireless efforts  of  the  outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and
  WHEREAS,  It  is only with the continued diligence and devotion of our
youth, tomorrow's leaders, that America will maintain her glory; and
  WHEREAS, Ciera Cole completed a Silver Award community service project
which she planned, developed and executed; for her project,  this  exem-
plary Girl Scout worked with the director of the Odessa Century 21 After
School  Program creating buttons to be worn once a month in an effort to
eliminate bullying; and
  WHEREAS, In addition, Ciera Cole gathered donated stuffed  animals  to
put  in  a  treasure  box  as a reward for those students who wore their
button; and
  WHEREAS, The Silver Award is earned over  a  two-year  period;  it  is
tangible  evidence of Ciera Cole's high character and commitment, and is
a harbinger of her future service to her community, New York  State  and
our Nation; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, in
recognition of the significance  of  this  meritorious  achievement,  to
congratulate  and  honor Ciera Cole upon the occasion of her designation
as recipient of the Girl Scout Silver Award; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ciera Cole.
