LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Linda Winslow upon the occasion of
her induction into the Fontbonne Hall Academy Hall of Fame

WHEREAS,  Individuals  who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
  WHEREAS, It is the sense  of  this  Legislative  Body  to  acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community  service  are  an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its  long-
standing  traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Linda Winslow upon the occasion of her induction into the Fontbonne
Hall Academy Hall of Fame; this auspicious occasion will  be  celebrated
at the Academy's Fleur de Lys Dinner Dance, to be held on Wednesday, May
1, 2013; and
  WHEREAS,  Fontbonne  Hall  Academy  is  an  all-girls,  private, Roman
Catholic high school in Brooklyn, New York; it was established  in  1937
by  the  Sisters of St. Joseph, and is located within the Roman Catholic
Diocese of Brooklyn; and
  WHEREAS, Born in Brooklyn, New York, Linda Winslow  attended  PS  192,
Montauk  Junior High School and FDR High School; she received a Bachelor
of Arts degree in English and then a Master of Science degree in Second-
ary Education from St. John's University; and
  WHEREAS, Linda Winslow's first teaching job was at Immaculate Heart of
Mary School, where she taught seventh grade language arts  and  reading;
she  also  taught  seventh  and  eighth  grade science at Saint Finbar's
School; and
  WHEREAS, In September 1984, Linda Winslow joined the  English  Depart-
ment  of  Fontbonne Hall Academy; over the past 29 years, she has taught
every level of English that has been offered at the Academy; and
  WHEREAS, Linda Winslow became the Chairperson of the  English  Depart-
ment  at  Fontbonne  Hall Academy in September 1994; she has served as a
mentor to many new English teachers, guiding them along the correct path
to a successful teaching career; and
  WHEREAS, Outside the  classroom,  Linda  Winslow  has  moderated  many
extracurricular  and co-curricular activities; she has been in charge of
the school newspaper, The Folio; the Academy's literary magazine, Broad-
way Bonnies, a book club, as well as the Hellenic Club; and
  WHEREAS, In addition, Linda Winslow has served as  a  faculty  advisor
since  she came to Fontbonne Academy, and has also served as a coordina-
tor for the Classes of 1995, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2006, 2009 and currently,
for the Class of 2016; and
  WHEREAS, Linda Winslow is a member of the  Board  of  her  Homeowner's
Association,  a  lector and Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady Star of the
Sea Parish and the head usher for the Staten Island Yankees  during  the
summer; and
  WHEREAS,  Linda Winslow and her husband, Bob, are the proud parents of
their son, Andrew; they reside on Staten Island, New York; and
  WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive,  involvement,  Linda  Winslow  has
stood  constant  in  dignity,  good  grace and humor, and has earned the
respect and admiration of her colleagues, family and friends; and
  WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Linda Winslow has displayed through-
out her life; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
congratulate  Linda  Winslow upon the occasion of her induction into the
Fontbonne Hall Academy Hall of Fame; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Linda Winslow.
