LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  commending the Parent Coordinators of Brooklyn,
New York, upon the occasion of celebrating the 2nd Annual Parent Coordi-
nators Appreciation Day

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize  and  pay
just  tribute to the Parent Coordinators in each school directly respon-
sible for supporting families  and  supporting  parent  involvement  and
strengthening the educational system of the State of New York; and
  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to such concern, and in keeping with its time-ho-
nored traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body  to  commend
Bernadette  Slack,  Parent  Coordinator  of Brooklyn, New York, upon the
occasion of celebrating the 2nd Annual Parent Coordinators  Appreciation
Day; and
  WHEREAS,  On  Friday,  May  17,  2013,  Healthfirst will be hosting an
appreciation breakfast at  Crystal  Manor  to  honor  Bernadette  Slack,
Parent  Teacher Coordinator; this year's theme is "Blazing a Path to the
Future"; and
  WHEREAS, It  is  said  that  comprehensive  parent  partnerships  make
certain  that every school develops and implements an effective plan for
parental and  family  engagement,  ensuring  a  family  friendly  school
climate  in  cooperation  with  an academically enriched environment for
both teachers and students; and
  WHEREAS,  The  successful  sharing  of  ideas,  enriching  of   school
districts  and  maintaining  of  specific  roles by Bernadette Slack and
Parent Coordinators throughout Brooklyn, New York, including  conducting
outreach  to  get  other  parents involved in school life and supporting
school activities, are essential in the community; and
  WHEREAS, Bernadette Slack, Parent Coordinators, administrators, teach-
ers and support staff are all committed to ensuring academic success and
together look forward to working toward excellent academic growth; and
  WHEREAS, Parent Coordinators Appreciation Day provides an  opportunity
to  recognize Bernadette Slack, and the significant contributions to the
quality of life and the progression of our educational  system  and  for
all  people  to gain a greater appreciation of the role Parent Coordina-
tors will continue to play in our society; and
  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity  to
recognize  such a respectable and dedicated group of parents like Berna-
dette Slack who foster pride in education and exemplify  family  engage-
ment  that  represents  and strengthens the fabric of the people and the
State of New York; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
commend Bernadette Slack upon the occasion of celebrating the 2nd Annual
Parent Coordinators Appreciation Day; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Bernadette Slack.
