LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION commending the Ulster County Police Chiefs Asso-
ciation upon the occasion of holding its 40th  Anniversary  Celebration,
in  conjunction with its Annual Police Chiefs' Awards Banquet, on May 5,
2013

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this  Legislative  Body  to  recognize  and
honor  those  distinguished  officers and organizations who devote them-
selves to public service, demonstrating great courage and  diligence  in
providing  for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities
and this great Empire State; and
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its  long-
standing  traditions,  this  Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Ulster County Police Chiefs Association upon the occasion of holding
its 40th Anniversary Celebration, in conjunction with its Annual  Police
Chiefs'  Awards  Banquet,  on  Sunday, May 5, 2013, at the Diamond Mills
Hotel & Tavern in Saugerties, New York; and
  WHEREAS, To commemorate this milestone Anniversary,  this  gala  event
will  feature  an Expo displaying 40 years of policing in Ulster County,
as well as an exhibit of vintage police cars; and
  WHEREAS, In addition, the Awards Banquet will pay tribute  to  several
officers  and civilians for their exemplary commitment to preserving and
protecting the quality  of  life  in  their  communities  in  the  daily
performance of their duties; and
  WHEREAS, In 1973 the police chiefs and commanders of Ulster County law
enforcement met in a small New Paltz restaurant to form the Ulster Coun-
ty  Police Chiefs Association; their vision was to foster closer profes-
sional and personal relationships among police officials in the  county,
and to secure unity of action in police matters; and
  WHEREAS,  Forty years later, that vision has manifested in daily coop-
erative and unified interaction among law enforcement throughout  Ulster
County; and
  WHEREAS,  The  members  of the Ulster County Police Chiefs Association
may take just pride in its history, secure in  the  knowledge  that  its
mission  of  working  and  cooperation has made our county unique, and a
safer place to live in; and
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that  when  individ-
uals  and  organizations  of  such  noble  aims  and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated  and  recognized  by
all the citizens of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Ulster County Police Chiefs Association upon the occasion of
holding its 40th Anniversary Celebration, in conjunction with its Annual
Police Chiefs' Awards Banquet; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Ulster County Police Chiefs Association.
