LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION recognizing the honorees of the Southern Adiron-
dack Library System

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in joining its esteemed
entities as they recognize those who have  made  extraordinary  contrib-
utions; and
  WHEREAS,  The  Southern  Adirondack Library System (SALS) will present
Library Trustee of the Year Awards  and  Library  Program  of  the  Year
Awards  during  its  Annual Meeting to be held at the Great Escape Water
Lodge on May 20, 2013; and
  WHEREAS, The Library Trustee of the  Year  Awards  will  be  given  to
Cheryl Gold of the Saratoga Springs Public Library, and to Larry Carr of
the Town of Johnsburg Library; and
  WHEREAS,  Cheryl  has  served on the Board of Trustees of the Saratoga
Springs Public Library since 2008; she was instrumental  in  the  estab-
lishment of the library's Endowment Fund at the Community Foundation for
the Greater Capital Region and the Ex Libris Society; and
  WHEREAS,  She has also contributed her time to the SALS Board of Trus-
tees, the Friends of the Saratoga Springs Public  Library,  and  at  the
library's Information Desk and local history collection; and
  WHEREAS, Larry Carr has served on the Town of Johnsburg Board of Trus-
tees  for  10 years; he contributes his time to several Board committees
and as a volunteer at the library; and
  WHEREAS, He was instrumental in three major construction  projects  at
the  library, including equipping the building with handicap access, has
delivered books to the nursing home, and participates in  the  organiza-
tion of the book sales; and
  WHEREAS,  Library  Program of the Year Awards will be presented to the
Saratoga Springs Public Library for its  "Sensory  Storytime"  and  "The
Sunday Club" programs, and to the Town of Ballston Community Library for
its "Home Delivery Books" program; and
  WHEREAS, "Sensory Storytime" is geared for young children with sensory
integration issues and those on the autism spectrum; it is highly struc-
tured, interactive, and makes use of multiple senses; and
  WHEREAS,  "The  Sunday Club" is an informal information club for teens
on the autism spectrum, who can get together and play  board  games  and
socialize; and
  WHEREAS,  "Home  Delivery  Books"  is  offered by the Town of Ballston
Community Library, in conjunction with the Saratoga  County  Office  for
Aging  and Town of Ballston, and in partnership with the Saratoga County
Home Delivery Meals; program participants receive books, based on  their
individual interests, with their meals; and
  WHEREAS, The State of New York is pleased to join the Southern Adiron-
dack  Library  System  in recognizing the extraordinary contributions of
these trustees and library programs; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
recognize the honorees of the Southern Adirondack Library System; and be
it further
  RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted  to  the  Saratoga  Springs Public Library, the Town of Ballston
Community Library, Cheryl Gold, and Larry Carr.
