LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring Trooper Keith Slevinski upon the occa-
sion of his designation as the recipient of a Superintendent's Commenda-
tion Award at the 37th Annual New York State Police Awards Day  Ceremony
on May 16, 2013

WHEREAS,  The  quality  and  sanctity  of  community  life are cherished
values, worthy of safeguarding; this Legislative Body is moved to  honor
those  who  preserve and protect such values, lauding particularly their
unwavering courage and dedication in  the  daily  performance  of  their
duties; and
  WHEREAS,  Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body  is  justly  proud  to  honor
Trooper  Keith Slevinski, of Troop F in Monroe, New York, upon the occa-
sion of his designation as the recipient of a Superintendent's Commenda-
tion Award; and
  WHEREAS, A Trooper since December 1, 2008, he will receive  the  award
in  recognition  of  his  outstanding police work at the 37th Annual New
York State Police Superintendent's Commendation and Awards Day Ceremony,
to be held at the New York State Police Academy in Albany  on  Thursday,
May 16, 2013; and
  WHEREAS,  On  August 17, 2012, Troop F received a complaint about a 15
year old runaway; on August 18, 2012, the State Police  Monroe  BCI  was
able  to  obtain  a  Subpoena from the Orange County District Attorney's
office to go through the girl's computer; and
  WHEREAS, Trooper Keith Slevinski, Troop F's  Cyber  Crime  Specialist,
performed  a content check of the PC to review files for possible leads;
although minimal information was recovered, some images  were  recovered
and stored in the zip drive for review; and
  WHEREAS,  Pictures  and  texts  from  her Ipod were on the PC and also
retained; subsequent to a further search of the computer files the Troop
F Computer Crimes Unit was able to locate and identify an individual who
may have assisted the juvenile in running away; and
  WHEREAS, On August 24, 2012, the girl was located from the IP  address
and  was found in the basement of a Michigan home, where a man was hold-
ing her captive in a cage; the man holding her was determined to be  the
man  who  had  assisted her in running away and was arrested on Michigan
State charges with Federal and New York charges pending; now, therefore,
be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
honor  Trooper  Keith  Slevinski upon the occasion of his designation as
the recipient of a Superintendent's Commendation Award at the 37th Annu-
al New York State Police Awards Day Ceremony on May 16, 2013; and be  it
further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Trooper Keith Slevinski.
