LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  commending  Branson Sparks upon the occasion of
his designation as the recipient of a Friends of  Sands  Point  Preserve
Preservers' Award of Distinction at its Gold Gala on May 4, 2013

WHEREAS,  Individuals  who distinguish themselves in their profession or
in service to their community merit the highest commendation; and
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with  its  long-
standing  tradition,  this  Legislative  Body is justly proud to commend
Branson Sparks upon the occasion of his designation as the recipient  of
a  Friends  of  Sands Point Preserve Preservers' Award of Distinction at
its Gold Gala, to be held at the Hempstead House on May 4, 2013; and
  WHEREAS, The  2013  Awards  of  Distinction  are  being  presented  to
outstanding  medical  students  currently in their third year at Hofstra
North Shore - LIJ School of Medicine; Branson Sparks is being recognized
for his voluntary work at the Sands Point Preserve to help establish and
maintain the Bee Apiary; he assisted in the development and presentation
of the Bee-Whispering educational workshops and  programs  conducted  at
the preserve; and
  WHEREAS, A native of Louisiana, Branson Sparks graduated from Louisia-
na Tech University with a bachelor's degree in economics; he subsequent-
ly  completed Bryn Mawr College's post-baccalaureate pre-medical program
and is currently a second-year medical  student  at  the  Hofstra  North
Shore - LIJ School of Medicine; and
  WHEREAS,  Branson  Sparks  is  an avid musician, pilot, and skier; his
academic interests include research; he has published in two  papers  on
the  genetics  of  autoimmune  diseases  and  is currently involved in a
research project concerning the treatment  of  seasonal  allergies  with
natural honey; and
  WHEREAS,  This  Legislative  Body is pleased to applaud Branson Sparks
for, in addition to his many responsibilities and demands on his time as
a medical student, making time to also do volunteer work  at  the  Sands
Point  Preserve  so  visitors  may enjoy it for many years to come; now,
therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
commend  Branson  Sparks  upon  the  occasion  of his designation as the
recipient of a Friends of Sands  Point  Preserve  Preservers'  Award  of
Distinction at its Gold Gala on May 4, 2013; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Branson Sparks.
