LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION congratulating the Westhampton Beach High School
Robotics Team upon the occasion of  capturing  the  School  of  Business
Partnership of Long Island Regional Competition title

WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those who, by achieving outstanding success in  their  educa-
tional  endeavors  and  competitions, have inspired and brought pride to
our majestic Empire State; and
  WHEREAS, It is also the custom of this Legislative Body  to  recognize
the  dedication and commitment of our young people who distinguish them-
selves through excellence in scholastic competition; and
  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its  long-
standing  traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late the Westhampton Beach High School Robotics Team upon  the  occasion
of  capturing the School of Business Partnership of Long Island Regional
Competition title; and
  WHEREAS, Participation in FIRST (For Inspiration  and  Recognition  of
Science and Technology) events affords students the opportunity to apply
real-world  math and science concepts as well as develop critical think-
ing, time management and presentation skills; students learn to work  as
a group using collaboration and effective communication; and
  WHEREAS, Competing against 50 teams at Hofstra University in the FIRST
Regional  Competition,  the  Westhampton Beach High School Robotics Team
captured first place and became eligible to compete in the World Champi-
onships, held in St. Louis against 400 teams from throughout the  United
States; and
  WHEREAS, The Westhampton Beach High School Robotics Team became one of
only  three teams from Long Island invited to attend the World Champion-
ship; and
  WHEREAS, Founded four years  ago  by  Westhampton  Beach  High  School
senior  Nick  Panzarino, the Westhampton Beach High School Robotics Team
of 15 students spent six weeks designing and building a 130 pound  robot
that competed in a tense variation of a Frisbee game; and
  WHEREAS,  The  members  of  the Westhampton Beach High School Robotics
Team that captured first place in the School of Business Partnership  of
Long  Island Regional Competition title were: Nicholas Joseph Panzarino,
Jack Douglas Buenten, John Anthony  Baker,  Adam  Edward  Shea,  Timothy
Raymond  Shea,  Mark  Ebert,  Alexander  DeVito,  Jennifer Baker, Walter
Dawydiak, Aidan Bean,  Sebastian  Naranjo,  Alex  William  Jaquin,  Ryan
Charles Jaquin, and Kenneth Calle-Manso; the team was coached by Anthony
A.  Kryl  and  Justin H. Kuey; their outstanding performance has clearly
made a contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition  of
their school and community; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Westhampton Beach High School Robotics  Team  upon  the
occasion  of capturing the School of Business Partnership of Long Island
Regional Competition title; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, he tran-
smitted to the members and coaches of the Westhampton Beach High  School
Robotics Team.
