LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring  Firefighter  Theodore Scardino of the
West Webster Volunteer Firemen's Association  for  his  valiant  service
while responding to a call on December 24, 2012

WHEREAS,  It  is  the  custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York  whose  lifework  and  civic  endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
  WHEREAS,  Citizens  across  our  State  and Nation are inspired by and
indebted to our noble firefighters who exhibit courage and bravery every
day in the course of their duties; and
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor Firefighter
Theodore Scardino of the West Webster  Volunteer  Firemen's  Association
for his valiant service while responding to a call on December 24, 2012;
and
  WHEREAS,  48  year-old Theodore Scardino earned his associate's degree
in Business and Computers, and has honorably served as a  volunteer  for
the  West  Webster Volunteer Firemen's Association for the past year and
one-half; and
  WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Theodore Scardino has gone  about  his
duties  quietly  and  purposefully, devoting a significant amount of his
time to the Firemen's association; and
  WHEREAS, Theodore Scardino is a former member of the Laurelton  Volun-
teer  Fire Department in Rochester, New York, and recently completed his
Firefighter 1 training; and
  WHEREAS, In faithful service to his  community,  Firefighter  Theodore
Scardino was wounded in the line of duty after responding to an emergen-
cy call on December 24, 2012; and
  WHEREAS,   Firefighter   Theodore  Scardino  should  be  meritoriously
commended for taking prompt and appropriate action in an emergency situ-
ation, remaining calm under pressure, in an effort to protect the  citi-
zens he so ably serves; and
  WHEREAS,  With  him  throughout  have  been his wife, Karen, and their
three beloved children, Christina, Robert and Austin, all of  whom  feel
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
  WHEREAS,  Volunteer firefighters and fire departments not only provide
the critical service of fire protection but also engage in other  activ-
ities of great benefit and importance to the communities they serve; and
  WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help others
and  a  tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with family
and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in  need;  Theo-
dore  Scardino  is  such  a firefighter; throughout his years of devoted
service, this volunteer heroically performed, above and beyond the  call
of   duty,   those  responsibilities  which  define  the  task  of  fire
protection; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
honor  Firefighter Theodore Scardino of the West Webster Volunteer Fire-
men's Association for his valiant service while responding to a call  on
December 24, 2012; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Firefighter Theodore Scardino.
