LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring  Firefighter  Joseph Hofstetter of the
West Webster Volunteer Firemen's Association  for  his  valiant  service
while responding to a call on December 24, 2012

WHEREAS,  It  is  the  custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York  whose  lifework  and  civic  endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
  WHEREAS,  Citizens  across  our  State  and Nation are inspired by and
indebted to our noble firefighters who exhibit courage and bravery every
day in the course of their duties; and
  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor Firefighter
Joseph Hofstetter of the West Webster  Volunteer  Firemen's  Association
for his valiant service while responding to a call on December 24, 2012;
and
  WHEREAS,  A 13-year veteran of the West Webster Firemen's Association,
33 year-old Joseph Hofstetter is a graduate of Monroe Community College,
where he earned an associate's degree in Fire Protection Technology; and
  WHEREAS, The son of Carl Hofstetter and Maria Rigillo, Joseph Hofstet-
ter has gone about his  duties  quietly  and  purposefully,  devoting  a
significant amount of his time to the Fireman's association; and
  WHEREAS,  Joseph Hofstetter became a member of the West Webster Volun-
teer Firemen's Association  after  participating  in  the  Association's
Firematics Explorer Post program; and
  WHEREAS,  Despite being gravely wounded, Firefighter Joseph Hofstetter
is to be commended for forsaking his own safety and radioing  in  impor-
tant details about the scene to emergency personnel; and
  WHEREAS,  Volunteer firefighters and fire departments not only provide
the critical service of fire protection but also engage in other  activ-
ities of great benefit and importance to the communities they serve; and
  WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help others
and  a  tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with family
and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need;  Joseph
Hofstetter  is  such  a  firefighter;  throughout  his  years of devoted
service, this volunteer heroically performed, above and beyond the  call
of   duty,   those  responsibilities  which  define  the  task  of  fire
protection; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
honor  Firefighter Joseph Hofstetter of the West Webster Volunteer Fire-
men's Association for his valiant service while responding to a call  on
December 24, 2012; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Firefighter Joseph Hofstetter.
