LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring Maria Barbone upon the occasion of her
recognition by the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association as
a 2013 OCIAA Scholar Athlete

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the  achievements  of  its  young
citizens  and  leaders  of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and  values  cherished  by  this  great  State  and
nation; and
  WHEREAS,  This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Maria Barbone
upon the occasion of her recognition by the Orange County  Interscholas-
tic Athletic Association as a 2013 OCIAA Scholar Athlete; and
  WHEREAS,  Academically  and  athletically,  Maria  Barbone has distin-
guished herself as a young woman of  superlative  ability,  talent,  and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purpose-
fulness  of  life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years;
and
  WHEREAS, Maria Barbone, a student at Port Jervis High School  in  Port
Jervis,  New  York,  ranked  10th  in  her  class and is a member of the
soccer, cross country, and track and field teams; and
  WHEREAS, She is a Varsity Club officer, and a member of National Honor
Society, Senior Enrichment, Band,  and  Venture  Scouts;  she  plans  to
attend  college, major in Engineering, and compete in athletics through-
out college; and
  WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates,  Maria  Barbone
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
  WHEREAS, Maria Barbone may stand with pride in her achievements, expe-
riencing  the  satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accomplish-
ments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as  she  continues
her education; and
  WHEREAS,  Maria  Barbone represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to  honor
this  young  woman,  recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
honor  Maria  Barbone upon the occasion of her recognition by the Orange
County Interscholastic Athletic Association  as  a  2013  OCIAA  Scholar
Athlete, and to wish her well in her future endeavors; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Maria Barbone.
