LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Ronald Uva upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Distinguished Service Award by the Amer-
ican College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take  note  of  and
publicly  acknowledge  individuals  who  have  distinguished  themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and  purposeful  lives
of service to their community and their profession; and
  WHEREAS,  Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor  Dr.
Ronald  Uva  upon  the  occasion  of his designation as recipient of the
Distinguished Service Award by the American College of Obstetricians and
Gynecologists; and
  WHEREAS, Dr. Ronald Uva has been a member  of  the  Oswego  Hospital's
medical staff for more than 30 years; and
  WHEREAS,  He  earned  his  undergraduate degree from the University of
Buffalo and attended medical school at  the  University  of  Studies  of
Bologne, in Bologne, Italy; and
  WHEREAS,  Dr.  Ronald  Uva  completed his medical residency at Upstate
Medical Center in Syracuse; and
  WHEREAS, This remarkable doctor  has  taken  an  active  role  in  his
profession, serving on several state medical boards; as a former medical
coordinator  for  the  Oswego-Montserrat  connection for Partners of the
Americas, Dr. Ronald Uva taught medical professionals how to incorporate
ultrasound and fetal monitoring into obstetrical practices; and
  WHEREAS, Currently, Dr. Ronald Uva is the president of  Oswego  County
OB/GYN  PC,  which  has  provided  obstetrical and gynecological care to
residents of Oswego County for more than 45  years,  providing  24  hour
on-site coverage at the Oswego Hospital Maternity Center; and
  WHEREAS,  In 2011, Dr. Ronald Uva was elected as vice chair of the New
York District of the American College of Obstetricians; in this  capaci-
ty,  he serves as an advocate for universal maternity coverage and other
women's health issues; and
  WHEREAS, At this time, Dr. Ronald Uva is serving his second five  year
term  on the New York State Board for Medicine, the first physician from
Oswego Health to be named to this prestigious State Board; and
  WHEREAS, Dr. Ronald Uva is also active with the Medical Society of New
York State, writing semiannual book reviews for the Society, as well  as
a monthly column for the PALLADIUM TIMES; and
  WHEREAS,  Despite  his busy professional life, in 1997, Dr. Ronald Uva
was named Little League Coach of the Year; and
  WHEREAS, In recognition of his dedication, commitment and  efforts  on
behalf  of  his  community  and  his profession, it is the sense of this
Legislative Body to extend its highest commendation to Dr.  Ronald  Uva;
now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Ronald Uva upon the occasion of his designation  as  recipient
of  the Distinguished Service Award by the American College of Obstetri-
cians and Gynecologists; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Ronald Uva.
