Mourning the death of John Russell Palmiter, distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community

LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  mourning  the  death  of John Russell Palmiter,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body  to  pay  tribute  to
citizens  of  the  State  of  New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
  WHEREAS, John Russell Palmiter of Vestal, New York, died on  Thursday,
March 28, 2013, at the age of 48; and
  WHEREAS,  Born on Christmas Eve, in 1964, John Russell Palmiter gradu-
ated from Owego Free Academy in 1984, and the Culinary Institute in Hyde
Park, New York, in 1988; and
  WHEREAS, John Russell Palmiter distinguished himself in his profession
and by his  sincere  dedication  and  substantial  contribution  to  the
welfare of his community; and
  WHEREAS, He served as the Director of Operations for AFV at the Broome
County  Veterans  Memorial Arena, and his gift of cooking was enjoyed by
all who knew him; and
  WHEREAS, John Russell Palmiter's outstanding leadership  in  operating
food  and beverage services at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena
and Forum Theater greatly benefited thousands of guests at those facili-
ties, major tenants like the Broadway Theater League,  Tri-Cities  Opera
and  Binghamton  Senators Hockey Club, and the entire Greater Binghamton
community; and
  WHEREAS, This remarkable man had a generous and loving spirit and  his
enthusiasm was contagious; he will be missed by many; and
  WHEREAS,  John  Russell Palmiter is survived by his parents, Duane Sr.
and Virginia Palmiter; his wife of  18  years,  Carol  (Maui)  Palmiter;
cherished son, Christian Palmiter; two brothers, Duane Jr. (Lisa) Palmi-
ter  and  David (Deborah) Palmiter; seven nieces and nephews, AJ, Dylan,
Jourden, Stephanie, Danielle, Matthew, and Andrew; and  his  Aunt  Helen
Cole; as well as two cousins, Russ and Chris Charlier and families; and
  WHEREAS,  Armed  with  a  humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, John Russell Palmiter leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause  in  its  deliberations  to
mourn  the  death  of  John  Russell Palmiter, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of his community; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of John Russell Palmiter.
