LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  commending  the Parent Resource Center upon the
occasion of its Annual Dinner and Auction, April 20, 2013

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality of life in the communities across this great State of  New  York
is  enriched  by  the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions of distinction whose singular purpose is the care and  welfare  of
others; and
  WHEREAS,  Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly  proud  to  commend
the  Parent  Resource  Center upon the occasion of its Annual Dinner and
Auction, "Celebrating Community, Service, Friendship," which was held on
Saturday, April 20, 2013, at The Clubhouse  at  Harbor  Links,  in  Port
Washington, New York; and
  WHEREAS,  At  this  memorable  event, the Parent Resource Center (PRC)
honored two outstanding individuals for their exemplary service  to  the
organization; and
  WHEREAS, Cari Gatto Huszar is a two-term Past Board President, Market-
ing Chair and Major Gift organizer for the Parent Resource Center; and
  WHEREAS,  Over  the  course of her volunteer work with PRC, Cari Gatto
Huszar has been instrumental in improving the  organization's  financial
position; and
  WHEREAS,  In  2008,  in her role as Marketing Chair, Cari Gatto Huszar
conducted research to help PRC identify key areas for improvement; after
accepting the mantle of leadership  as  Board  President  in  2009,  she
spearheaded  efforts that led to increased revenue, renovated facilities
and an enhanced public image; and
  WHEREAS, Liz Sarachek-Blacker works at the Chief  Revenue  Officer  as
Terra USA, and is a member of PRC; and
  WHEREAS, Motivated by a desire to help give disadvantaged children the
same  opportunities for recreation and summer camp available to her son,
Liz Sarachek-Blacker leveraged her involvement with a charitable endeav-
or to help raise much needed funds for PRC; and
  WHEREAS, Due to Liz Sarachek-Blacker's  efforts,  the  record-breaking
dollars  raised not only aided PRC's ESL and Outreach Program and a camp
scholarship, it also helped the organization weather a flood; and
  WHEREAS, The Parent Resource Center is a Parent CO-OP that offers  its
members  classes  for  pre-school  aged  children, social gatherings and
field trips for the whole family,  workshops  for  parents,  infant  and
toddler  drop-in  playtime,  drop-off  baby-sitting,  and  a  myriad  of
resources for the whole family; and
  WHEREAS, With more than 500 family-members  who  actively  assist  the
permanent staff in selecting programs, teaching classes, planning events
and  raising  funds,  the  Parent  Resource Center continuously meets it
goals of helping at-risk families, and of providing a safe  and  healthy
environment in which parents and children can learn; and
  WHEREAS,  The  Parent  Resource  Center  has  had a long and sustained
commitment to the well-being and development of its unique  and  diverse
community and therefore merits the highest commendation of this Legisla-
tive Body; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the
Parent Resource Center upon  the  occasion  of  its  Annual  Dinner  and
Auction,  and  to  pay  tribute to its honorees, fully confident that it
will continue to have a positive impact on its community  for  years  to
come; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Parent Resource Center and the aforementioned honorees.
